Clip #1: Gordon Gekko’s (Michael Douglas) relationship with his daughter Winnie (Carey Mulligan) isn’t good and this is our first taste of not only Winnie’s angry feelings towards her father but her fiancée Jacob’s (Shia LaBeouf) fascination with him.

Clip #2: In this scene, Money Never Sleeps attempts to illustrate the way in which rumors, even when people know they aren’t true, can drastically impact the price of a stock.

Clip #3: In this clip Oliver Stone relives everyone’s reaction to the financial crisis of 2008, as the media screamed that the whole thing was going to melt down at any minute, while we the public just sort of sat there, stared blankly at our televisions, and busied ourselves with other things since, well, most of us didn’t and still don’t have any real understanding of what the heck was going on. The scary thing about what happened in 2008 is that even a lot of the people involved in the financial industry (in this case played by Shia LaBeouf) didn’t understand what was happening, and they too sat there blankly, in front of their televisions, just like the rest of us.

Clip #4: In this scene Stone attempts to illustrate the way in which one, small piece of hard journalism on a small website could impact the financial community in rooting out corruption. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how realistic this is. Dozens of articles of all types have been written on Wall Street corruption over the past few years and how much impact has it really had? Judge for yourself. You’ll also get a look at one of Oliver Stone’s two cameos in his film.

Filming is set to begin in Detroit for scenes that will appear in the upcoming ‘Transformers 3′ movie.

The Michigan Film Office confirms that preparations are underway, and crews will arrive as early as next week.

Some scenes will be shot at the old Packard Plant on East Grand Boulevard. Crews could be in Detroit filming scenes for up to three weeks.

‘Transformers 3′ stars Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The film is being directed by Michael Bay.

LOS ANGELES — Earning $20 million upfront for a movie is so 2007. These days studios are squeezing every cent they can out of actors, and that means many stars only earn the big bucks after the studio gets back its money.

In these frugal times it’s useful to look at which actors earn studios the most for their money. Pay someone $10 million to star in your big summer blockbuster and what can you expect for your investment? If you hire Shia LaBeouf, expect a lot. For the second year in a row, he tops our list of Hollywood’s Best Actors for the Buck.

When LaBeouf starred in the first Transformers movie in 2007, Viacom’s ( VIA – news – people ) Paramount Studio was able to pay him under $5 million. It had to bump that up considerably for the second film (which earned $833 million in 2009), but LaBeouf still isn’t earning $20 million upfront to star in a picture.

As a result, he offers a great return on investment. For every $1 studios spend on the 24-year-old actor his films return an average $81 of profit. For our list this year LaBeouf also benefits from the fourth Indiana Jones film, which earned $790 million in 2008. George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford split the bulk of the profits from that movie leaving LaBeouf as a profitable costar.

As the actor’s fame (and box-office earnings) increase he’ll be able to demand more for each film which will hurt his return on investment number unless the films are gigantic blockbusters. That could be the case with the next Transformers movie. LaBeouf was able to ask for more money upfront but because the movie is being filmed in 3-D, it should earn even more than Transformers 2.

And yes, we all expect that Shia will make another hit from the third Transformers movie! =D

August 25, 2010 (WLS) — The producer of the Transformers 3 movie calls Chicago ‘the best city’ he’s ever shot in while Mayor Richard Daley says hosting the movie was the best for the city’s bottom line.

Production on the film is scheduled to wrap up on September 1 after a month of shooting on Chicago’s streets- and nearby locations.

“All of us have felt like this was the best city we’ve ever shot in,” said Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, producer.

The filming was supposed to be over a few days ago, but the crew for Transformers 3 doesn’t seem to mind sticking around a little longer in Chicago. On Wednesday the producer thanked Chicago police and fire departments, as well as the CTA and department of transportation for making the process go smoothly. He said he plans to spread the word of Chicago’s hospitality.

On Wednesday they shot a scene just off Michigan Avenue involving Shia Labeouf and his movie mom and dad.

For several weeks, the movie production itself has been a big draw for fans. Large crowds of spectators have been impressed by elaborate sets that show Chicago in the midst of death and destruction.

“We’re hoping to catch them recording but we just got down here so we haven’t seen anything yet, but we’re hoping to catch something,” said Joanne Monday, spectator.

“We live a few blocks away so we’ve been to see everything. It’s been pretty cool,” said Susana Cuadros, spectator.

The crew of Transformers-3 in turn has high praise for the city and called their experience “phenomenal.”

“It’s gonna spread like a virus around Hollywood about how great a time we had here,” said Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Transformers 3 producer.

Besides good publicity, the film generated lots of revenue for the city by employing 1200 Chicagoans, using services of more than 380 businesses and spending more than $20-million.

The film also used local film students as interns.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with the 3D camera they have it on a huge crane; it goes over the tops of buildings and everything,” said Marshaun Williams, Transformers 3 Intern.

Mayor Daley is already looking forward to the film when it comes out next summer. He didn’t score a cameo, but says he would have been the best person to play the mayor.

“No. they would have to select me–there’s no way,” said Daley.

Other Chicago-based productions are wrapping up, including the Ron Howard movie starring Vince Vaughn. A few TV pilots were shot here as well. One has been picked up by a network.

There’s a lot of buzz about Transformers 3; the scenes involving a car dangling from the Michigan Avenue Bridge received a record amount of tweets in Twitter.

• Transformers 3 is filming on Washington St/Madison St between Wabash and Michigan through 6 a.m. Friday, 8.27.
• Transformers 3 is expected to begin filming in Detroit soon too. Currently, they are setting up at the Old Central Station in Detroit. They will also be filming at the Packard Plant on East Grand Boulevard in about two weeks. We heard its going to be pretty explosive over there too!

BERLIN — Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” has been selected as the Zurich Film Festival’s closing night film.

Stone and producer Edward Pressman will attend the German-language premiere Oct. 3. Michael Douglas, who is being feted at this year’s fest with the Golden Icon award, was to attend but bowed out last week after being diagnosed with cancer. As previously reported, Danny DeVito will be on hand to accept the prize on Douglas’ behalf (Daily Variety, Aug. 23).

It won’t be the first time Stone and Pressman attend the Zurich fest.

Stone was honored in 2007 with the “A Tribute to …” kudo while Pressman chaired the 2006 jury.

“Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” follows Douglas’ character Gordon Gekko from Stone’s original 1987 film “Wall Street” as he is released from prison and gets back into the money game. Shia LaBeouf, Carey Mulligan, Susan Sarandon and Frank Langella co-star.

The fest will also present a special screening of the original “Wall Street.” “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” hits Swiss and German cinemas Oct. 21.

The Zurich Film Festival runs Sept. 25-Oct. 3.

Shia LaBeouf is set to swing back into action in the fifth “Indiana Jones” installment – the actor has confirmed he’s in talks to return to the franchise.

Harrison Ford reprised his role as the heroic archaeologist in 2008’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” which hit cinemas nearly 20 years after 1989’s “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.”

Ford has since confirmed movie bosses Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are working on a follow-up, but he’s adamant he will only sign up if he likes the story.

And now LaBeouf, who played Jones’ son Mutt in the latest film, is looking forward to the new storyline.

He tells Britain’s Daily Express, “They’re scriptwriting now. It sounds crazy. It sounds really cool.”

The film is reportedly due for a 2012 release to coincide with Ford’s 70th birthday.

There are also speculations that this would be Harrison Ford’s last Indy movie since the actor will be 70 this year and in doubt of doing action stunts if there’s any upcoming installment. In my opinion, there’ll always be a ‘goodbye’ in any movie franchise, and Mr. Ford himself did a really great job in each movie. He’s literally a legend! Maybe this is the time for re-generation, and I’m so excited if Shia will be appointed to be his successor. =D What do you guys think?
