Shia LaBeouf’s co-star in his upcoming John Hillcoat-directed film The Wettest County In The World gave some deeds about the movie to Total Film. Not much of an update tough, but she emphasizes that this movie will be great (which I believe as well!).
On upcoming movie The Wettest Country In The World…
“I play a gun moll from Chicago in the 1930s who ends up in the south with these three brothers who are selling moonshine. It’s a fight between them and the police. My character has a romance with Tom Hardy’s character.
“People are going to be very excited about this film; [director] John Hillcoat is a master. It was the kind of set where the actors who weren’t working that day would show up just to watch scenes being made. Which doesn’t happen often!”
Good news from Cannes! Relativity Media is reportedly closing the deal of buying Shia’s upcoming movie The Wettest County In The World. Here’s the exclusive report from The Wrap:
The movie deals are starting to come fast and furious in and around the Cannes festival, significantly many of them outside the festival.
On the heels of FilmDistrict’s purchase of the sci-fi “”Looper” comes news that Relativity has closed a deal to buy John Hillcoat’s “The Wettest County in the World.” The studio paid around $4 million for U.S. distribution rights, according to one individual involved in the deal.
Like “Looper,” the film is in post-production.
“County” is a crime-drama centered on a family of Depression-era bootleggers in the American South starring Shia LaBeous, Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman. Hillcoat, who last did “The Road,” directed from a script by Nick Cave, based on a novel by Matt Bondurant.
Now let’s all wait for the promo of this movie (stills, clips, etc!) until the movie will be released later on this year!

Finally an update of The Wettest County In The World! One of Shia’s co-stars, Jessica Chastain said in an interview that the movie will start filming in Atlanta this March. She also spilled out a bit about her character Maggie, and that the movie is likely a 1930′s gangster film. Sounds great, right? I just can’t wait to see the production updates more!

Big thanks to this awesome movie site Up and Comers, there’s a new addition to The Wettest County In The World after Shia, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska (still in talks), and Jason Clarke. It’s the star of television series In Treatment, Dane DeHaan! Read the article below from Up and Comers, and some exclusive tidbits of what characters are they going to play.
From a screenplay by Nick Cave and adapted from the novel of the same name by Matt Bondurant, “Wettest County” follows the antics of the three Bondurant brothers, bootleggers in Prohibition-era Virginia, from a true story of ondurant’s grandfather and granduncles. Hardy is on board to play Forrest, the middle brother, Chastain his love interest. LaBeouf is Jack, the youngest brother and main protagonist, while DeHaan would play the role of teenage bootlegger Cricket, crippled by rickets who is Jack’s partner in crime and shenanigans. No word on what role Clarke will take, though eldest brother Howard might be a reasonable guess.
